Serbia gets EU equipment to fight illegal immigration


The meeting was held at a border crossing with Bulgaria, the interior ministry said in a statement .Participants spoke about the possibility of extending the project funded by the EU with three million euros.

According to data released by Serbia’s national immigration commissioner, the number of people who have crossed into the country from Bulgaria has doubled since mid-May.The new technical equipment includes, among others, powerful binoculars, special cameras, helmets and shields.

Serbian news agency Tanjug reported that the aid will be sufficient for 300 migrants.A reported 8,000 migrants and refugees have reached Bosnia-Herzegovina since the start of the years, including 685 who have applied for asylum.
