WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is welcoming the president of Kenya to the White House.
Trump greeted President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday. The two are expected to discuss trade and security issues, as Kenya emerges from a period of election turmoil.
Kenyatta is the second African leader to meet with Trump at the White House. Nigeria’s president visited earlier this year.
Trump was criticized earlier this year after his private comment about “shithole countries” in Africa was leaked to journalists.
Kenyatta was accompanied by his wife and Trump was joined by his wife, Melania. The U.S. first lady is planning a solo trip to Africa in October.
