Entrepreneur Pierina Merino is Making Space for FlickPlay – A New Social Segment Where People Tell Their Best Stories in Their Favorite Places – Press Release
New platform ushers in the 3D era of social media by creating a gamified experience that allows users to generate interactive videos while immersed in a location where they can also participate in challenges with rewards.
Venezuelan-born young entrepreneur, Pierina Merino, launched a first-of-its-kind 3D social media app — available now in the Apple Store — in the U.S. back in July. And the widely popular interactive social craze is scheduled to release their map game in six key cities in Spain at the end February 2021.
Sharing life’s moments in social media became popular with Twitter and Facebook, which are part of the 1D era using text and images. Instagram and Snapchat belong to the 2D period, utilizing pictures and videos. FlickPlay is now creating a whole new experience in sharing on social media as the first social platform with game mechanics that focus on immersive content using video gaming tools.
FlickPlay is paving the way for social media’s 3D era by making augmented reality (AR) part of the here and now. With FlickPlay, Merino has created a social media experience that allows users to generate interactive videos while immersed in a location where they can also participate in challenges with rewards. Merino clarifies that FlickPlay utilizes the same game concept as Pokémon Go, combined into a content distribution platform like TikTok.
Who is Pierina Merino?
Born in south of Venezuela, Merino immigrate to USA at the age of 17, she completed her studies with a degree in Architecture with focus in new technologies from the Southern California Institute of Architecture. At SCI-ARC, the renowned Canadian architect Frank Gehry’s studio recruited Merino, and she joined as its youngest architect at age 21. She later became a Creative Director and strategist in range of technology innovation projects.
Possessing a strong attraction to design integrated with technology, Merino embarked on her first start-up at age 26, bootstrapping PIEMER — original jewelry designs created with 3D printing technology. The brand had phenomenal success at Nordstrom and was nominated for the Fashion Rising Brand Award by the Los Angeles Business Journal in November of 2017. Merino also received an invitation to exhibit her brand in the Los Angeles Architecture and Design Museum.
With her newest venture, Merino heads into the uncharted territory of 3D social media platforms, where she is pushing the boundaries of technology that bridges the gap between the physical and digital worlds. Merino’s invention has attracted investors from major digital venues, such as king, Snap, Twitter, Spotify, just to name a few.
Already available in the U.S without the map game, FlickPlay launches in Spain at the end of February 2021, in partnership with a luxury beauty brand and #1 retail called El Corte Inglés Merino, sees this event as an experiment to more European locations.
